Climate Emergency Statement
Climate Emergency Declaration
We recognise that the climate and ecological emergency is one of the greatest threats to public health, both now and for future generations.
Climate change is already impacting health through rising temperatures, air pollution, extreme weather events, food insecurity, and increased health inequalities. As a GP practice, we have a responsibility not only to treat illness, but to protect and promote the long-term health of our community.
We therefore declare a Climate Emergency and commit to playing our part in reducing our environmental impact and supporting a more sustainable healthcare system.
Our commitments include:
- Working to reduce our carbon footprint across our buildings, energy use, procurement, and waste
- Supporting sustainable prescribing and environmentally responsible clinical practices where clinically appropriate
- Encouraging active travel and sustainable transport for staff and patients where possible
- Reviewing our policies and operations to align with national NHS sustainability goals
- Engaging our team in climate-aware decision-making and continuous improvement
We recognise that this is an ongoing journey and that meaningful change requires transparency, collaboration, and sustained effort. We will regularly review our progress and seek opportunities to do more.
By taking action now, we aim to protect the health of our patients, our staff, and the wider community—today and in the years to come.
